Jazz fans may be OK with listening to Blues, but maybe not Country. Rock styles are all over the map and continue to evolve. Some are zoned in on Reggae. Classical, Hip-Hop, Disco — they're all in their own world!
There are over 6,000 different genres and subgenres of music out there, but the vast majority of them exist only in the studio and on Spotify or Sirius FM. The live music types we can hear locally depend on what paying customers in our local bars, restaurants, concert venues and stages want to listen to.

There's also no official way for all of these genres to be grouped. Our categories are ones we worked hard on to get right, but they're not perfect. Let us know if you see something out of line!

When watching tribute acts like Forever Eric and Dark Side of the Sol, listening to the differences is half the fun as well. Every solo or duo performer like B.J. Parks, Mike Menexis, Cup of Joe's, Jason Montero, or vocalist like Kristin Stephens also brings their very special touch to the music they play — listen for it!
Many venues focus on a specific vibe like Rock, Country, or Blues and stick to it. Others, like Priscilla's Oasis and the Northwood Art & Music Warehouse, thrive on the variety.
