Best 4/20 Parties in North County?

4/20 is a big Party Day every year, and since it falls on a Friday this year it’s a Party Weekend?  The best parties have Live Bands, so here’s our Top 5 picks:

  1. Double Roads for having two bands on Friday and a Mini-BluesFest on Saturday!!  The Shareholders at 5:30 and 56 Ace later on Friday.   Saturday – Nick Trill and the Thrillseekers, Selwyn Birchwood, and Eric Culberson!
  2. Guanabanas for grabbing Crazy Fingers for this special Friday!  and for the Moska Project on Saturday.
  3. The Crazy Horse Saloon for always having rockin’ bands!  touring band Sunset East from Nashville plays on Friday, and NIXX on Saturday night.
  4. Square Grouper for always having a big crowd!  21 to Burn plays on Friday, Big Medizen (another real 4/20 Band!) on Saturday!
  5. The Brewhouse Gallery for putting Lake Park back on the Party Map every weekend!  This week it’s the B-Side Band to liven up Saturday night, and a real Blues Jam on Sunday afternoon

Honorable Mention goes to the Seaside Bar on Singer Island for picking Axcents on Friday, and Under Pressure on Saturday!  Other special shows on this weekend’s schedule include Ben Child’s Killbillies waking up the shoppers and kicking off the weekend Friday at 6 at Downtown at the Gardens, Thunder Road playing Friday and Saturday at Uncle Mick’s, Wonderama at Harbourside The Ed Band at Two Drunken Goats, and The Flyers at Maxi’s on Saturday, and a special reunion show at Swamp Grass Willy’s for you Grunge fans with Smells Like Seattle getting back together with Sara Scully joining in on vocals!

It’s the annual Delray Affair along Atlantic Avenue!  Of course there’s Live Music, including performances by Jason Colannino, Steven Vincent, Bradley Brown, Adam Fine, Chris Monteleone, Shauna Sweeney, the Sosos, and Taylor Road.  How big is it?  12 blocks long with over 600 artists and vendors!  Free Admission, too.  It runs from 10 AM to 6 PM Friday and Saturday, and wraps up 5 PM Sunday.

Visitors can park at the following garages for $5:

  • County Parking Garage – West Atlantic Avenue; next to Courthouse/behind library

Bands Brews and Barks!

Or is it Barks Brews and Bands?  Wow – 15 Bands on 3 stages!  Bands start at 3 PM at the Kelsey Theater and Brewhouse Gallery.  Sounds like another great “back alley” event for Lake Park.  Of course your dog can come too!

The Seafood Festival is Back!

This weekend is the return of the very popular Jupiter Seafood Festival!  What makes some festivals thrive and others flop?  We think it’s the quality of the Live Music!  Check our North County Live Music Calendar to see whose playing (besides Spred the Dub)!

Season Kickoff for PGA Arts Live!

Saturday February 3 is the season kickoff events for the new PGA Arts Live venue at the PGA Arts Center!  The Boss Project – A Bruce Springsteen Tribute will have the honors at this converted movie theater just south of PGA Boulevard east of I-95 (in Loehmann’s Plaza for you old timers).  They specialize in Tribute Bands, and looking at their schedule we don’t see a bad one in the bunch.  All the seats are good ones, and they’ve installed an excellent sound system and good stage lighting, too.

Next week it will be Crazy Fingers, a Grateful Dead tribute band and every weekend after will have one or two great shows!

Great Local Talent at the South Florida Fair!

There’s 5 entertainment stages set up at the South Florida Fair this year, so you can hear some great bands and some excellent local talent from just about anywhere!  Check out our Live Music Calendar to see when and where Geoff Livingston will be performing your favorite Rock tunes, or JC Dwyer’s Country Rock, or the Ramblin’ Men’s Classic Rock, or maybe some Blues from Motel Mel!

Or maybe listen to Rit Johnson play some R&B from his newest CD, or a Reggae Classic Rock mix from Jupiter Trailer Trash, or Country music from the Tom Jackson Band.  Youngsters from the Expressway to the Stars and the Alex Shaw Project will be playing some amazing Rock tunes, Uproot Hootenanny will bring their Bluegrass, Manipulate the Machine will feature Alternative Rock favorites, and Spred the Dub will show off their Ska and Reggae jams!  Also check out Medicine Hat who will be stopping by to play some Blues and Murphy and Nolli playing some acoustic favorites.

If Tribute bands are your thing make sure you see the Petty Hearts perform – one of the very best Tom Petty bands anywhere!
